I am a Lincolnshire Artist working mainly in Watercolours
I was born and educated in the Fens. I then studied for a B.Sc. in Zoology at Bristol University. Thereafter I worked with research groups at Bristol and Cambridge Universities. I became a Science Teacher in Bedfordshire.I returned to the Fens35 years ago and began to paint in watercolours.
The inspiration for my art initially came from the Fenland skies and churches which are landmarks on the flat horizons.
I became familiar with the marshes when completing two ecological studies at Gibraltar Point and was inspired by the wildlife ,sea lavender, creeks and sand dunes whilst walking on the North Lincolnshire Coast.
Holidays near Cley and walks along the Norfolk Coastal Path inspired work on wildlife seascapes and beachcombing collections. I received highly commended for a study of spoonbills from The Wildlife Art Society International and was invited to exhibit at the NWT Cley marshes reserve.
Since the pandemic I have been working closer to home and have painted wildlife encounters at RSPB Frampton Marsh and walks locally. I have also completed new work of Spalding and local villages.
I have exhibited my work at several galleries and have had work accepted for The Laing Open, The south Holland Open Arts Competition, The Royal Society of Marine Artists,The Institute of East Anglian Artists and The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art.
I welcome commissions and have successfully completed paintings of family homes, businesses village scenes churches and pet portraits.
